Good news

Miracle baby
The baby lives after being dead for 30 minutes.
No one has been able to explain why Woody, who had suffered a massive heart attack, was able to return from the brink. And despite being starved of oxygen for so long, he appears to have suffered no permanent brain damage.

Exceptional friendship
A pair of month-old Sumatran tiger twins have become inseparable playmates with a set of young orangutans, an unthinkable match in their natural jungle habitat in Indonesia's tropical rain forests.
The friendship between 5-month-old female baby primates Nia and Irma, and cubs Dema and Manis, has blossomed at the Taman Safari zoo where they share a room in the nursery. read more here

What an inspirational stories. Can you imagine, what our world will look like, if we get these kind of news everyday instead of the doom and gloom news that we get from our dear MSMs? Just consider how much our days are shaped by the early news we get from our TV sets. I believe there are more "good & inspirational" news out there, so why is it that our media is so gravitated toward the "bad"?

Ahh..another picture of these two friends.

Welcome to Sunday Scribblings readers!

Stop wasting your life!

"Americans spend an average of four hours a day watching TV, an hour of that enduring ads. That adds up to an astounding 10% of total leisure time; at current rates, a typical viewer fritters away three years of his life getting bombarded with commercials."
Scott Woolley, Forbes

"However little television you watch, watch less."
David McCullough

Now I have to get my boys to stop playing video games..they are as bad as T.V. But they sure get their thumb exercised. This "video game" generation will sure have strong fingers!

40 days of "mind spa"

The Christian world is once again observing the Lenten season; the season of prayer and fasting that precedes the Easter. It is common believed that the Lenten period has to do with the events of the 40 days preceding the Resurrection. The ancient Hebrew writers made a practice of using numbers to symbolize ideas. 40, in their minds, was a "foursquare" number suggesting the idea of a foundation for something to follow; an idea of completeness. So the number 40 is frequently used in the Scriptures to indicate a completed preparation for something to follow.

"The world Lent comes from the Anglo-Saxon world for spring, which is derived from a verb meaning the Lengthen. Lent is a season of spiritual growth, a time for progressive unfoldment. When we can blend and merge our mind with God-Mind. Fasting means abstaining from; it is abstinence. In the 40 days, we abstain from error thinking and meditate on spiritual Truth. "

Selected from a book called, "keep a true Lent" by Charles Fillmore.

Dear friends, (whether or not you are a Christian)
Can you cleanse your mind for 40 days? No judgments, no bad thoughts, no negative feelings, no anger and no frustration for 40 days? Just BE at peace for 40 days.

It's like having 40 days of "mind spa" for our soul and getting ready for spiritual transformation?!

Peace within

If it is peace you want, seek to change yourself, not other people. It is easier to protect your feet with slippers than to carpet the whole of the earth.

- Anthony DeMello

I finally got it in my 40's...how can we have peace in the world when people have war within themselves? Arguing with our little voices inside our head constantly. Having grudges and keep them inside our heart, as if they are our valued treasures. Not letting go of little misunderstandings. Remember, unforgiveness is self-imprisonment. How long do we need to self-imprison ourselves? How can we have peace in the world, when we are at war with ourselves? We march at anti-war protests but we are unwilling to look inside our hearts and stop the war inside.

Lets start with the peace within TODAY.

Just consider this thought.
Think about what is it that you always wanted to do but have not done it?
What is stopping you?

Discover Yourself

"People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the seas, at the long course of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and yet they pass by themselves without wondering."

St. Augustine, 354-430
Early Christian Priest, Author

Heartprints

Whatever our hands touch -
We leave fingerprints!
On walls, on furniture
On doorknobs, dishes, books.
There’s no escape.
As we touch we leave our identity.

Wherever I go today
Help me leave heartprints!
Heartprints of compassion
Of understanding and love.
Heartprints of kindness
And genuine concern.

May my heart touch a lonely neighbor
Or a runaway daughter
Or an anxious mother
Or perhaps an aged grandfather.

Send me out today
To leave heartprints.
And if someone should say,
‘I felt your touch,’
May they also sense the love
that is deep within my heart.”

Have you touched, inspired and moved someone today? what are you waiting for?

Listen to your soul

I opened my email this morning and I recieved this poem from a dear friend, Genevieve. What a great way to begin the week. So dear friends, open your wings and listen to your calling. Do something today that you've never had the courage to do.

Every moment a voice out of this world calls on our soul to wake up and rise
This soul of ours is like a flame
With more smoke than light
Blackening our vision
Letting no light through
Lessen the smoke and more light brightens your house
The house you dwell in now and the abode you'll eventually move to.
Now my precious soul, how long are you going to waste yourself in this wandering journey
Can't you hear the voice
Can't you use your swifter wings and answer the call.

Rumi
Today is Presidents day in the US. It is a combination of two previous holidays, Lincoln's Birthday (February 12) and Washington's Birthday (February 22). So, I will leave you with some quotes from these two great men:

George Washington
Worry is the interest paid by those who borrow trouble.

My first wish is to see this plague of mankind, war, banished from the earth.

If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War.

True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity, before it is entitled to the appellation.

Abraham Lincoln
A woman is the only thing I am afraid of that I know will not hurt me.

As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master. This expresses my idea of democracy.

I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

Top education for $0

It's hard to belive but it is true. Top universities like MIT, Stanford, Nortre Dame and Yale are offering a growing number of courses free online, posting everything from lecture notes to sample tests and even making audio and video files of actual lectures available.

Many of the schools that offer free online coursework are supported through coursework are supported through grants from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, which says it hopes to promote "Open educational resources." Hewlett so far has given over $68 million to universities and non-profits to post free online materials.

I was just so inspired by the information and what a great way to give away wealth.

The world within

I am reading Charles Haanel's "Master Key System", and enjoying every word of it. There all millions books of this nature, but this one just puts it all together in an interesting way and it was written 100 years ago. Here is a quote:

"A majority of mankind lives in the world without few have found the world within, and yet it is the world within that makes the world without; it is therefore creative and everything which you find in your world without has been created by you in the word within..."

Ashes to Diamond

Turn Ashes of your loved ones into Diamond!
A blogger friend informed me of this very interesting service. wow! I did not know about it. It does cost a lot of money, but what a great idea (well, for some at least).
My sister emailed this to me:

"No temptation can gravitate to a man unless there is that in his heart which is capable of responding to it."

We are our thoughts

Man is Mind, and evermore
He takes the tool of thought
And, shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand ills.
He thinks in secret and it comes to pass.
Environment is but his looking glass
.

~ James Allen(1864-1912)

I am fascinated by the 19th century motivational writers/philosophers and James Allen was the Godfather of all self-improvement thinkers. Most of todays Self-help gurus studied people like James Allen, Charles Haanel, and Charles Filmore and are making millions from the original thinkers. These men were way ahead of their times, and now after 100 years later, we see their ideas in the mainstream thinking, and self-improvement industry has blossomed which shows that people are now ready and hungry for mind transformation (or at least I hope that is the case).

James Allen insisted upon the power of the individual to form his own character and to create his own happiness. Thought and character are one he writes. He believed that we become spiritually rich, when we discover the adventure within and when we are conscious of the oneness of all life.

I will post more about these great men later. Meanwhile, if you get a chance to read their books, it will be the best thing you can do for yourself.

Happy Love day

Happy Valentine to my inspirational family, and to all of you who have been visiting me here.

Love in Brain or Head?

Since it's a Valentine time, here are three interesting links to some research studies regarding Love and Brain:

Love Is All in Your Head -- Or Is It in Your Genes?
Legend has it that when Napoleon Bonaparte wrote Josephine to arrange a love tryst, he said, "I'm coming home -- please don't wash." Recent research on the scientific basis of love suggests that the famous general may have been onto something that guaranteed his success in the bedroom as well as on the battlefield. Read on

Is it love or Mental illness? They're closer than you think.
Science is beginning to pay more attention to the chemical storm that romantic love can trigger in our brains. Recent studies of brain scans sow that being in love causes changes in the brain that are strikingly similar to serious health problems like drug addiction and obsessive-compulsive disorder. More

Here's why love turns you around
As scientists claim, the arrow is dipped in phenylethylamine (PEA) — a brain chemical believed to have a role in causing sweaty palms, shaky knees and the restlessness associated with being in love. There are a whole range of neuro-transmitters whose complicated interplay adds up to romantic love, or so scientists would (rather unromantically) have us believe. Read hear.

No sleep means no new brain cells

Don't miss on your sleep or you loose your memory.

Missing out on sleep may cause the brain to stop producing new cells, a study has suggested. The work on rats, by a team from Princeton University found a lack of sleep affected the hippocampus, a brain region involved in forming memories.

Death is a fact of life, but it is not Truth

Probably no subject warrants more mental attention in the lives of men and women than the subject of death. It is the one great mystery, oddly enough, of life. An understanding of death seems essential to one's peace of mind, yet how can one understand that which he cannot comprehend and which no one has experienced and returned to tell complete details.

Physical death is something that takes place in our present consciousness. No one, no matter how holy, is exempt. But it will not always be this way. Perfection is in my future and it is in your future. We are moving in that direction. We are moving toward conscious oneness with the our creator.

Does God Have A Hero?

When you close
your eyes
and see God
within,
You are God's Hero.

When you open your eyes
and see God in everyone,
You are God's Hero.

When you let anger pass you by,
with a smile
upon your lips,
You are God's Hero.

When you hold love
in your heart
and peace within
your mind,
You are God's Hero.

When you look at somone
who is different,
and see only how you are alike,
You are God's Hero.

When you can see
beyond appearences
and have the wisdom
to see Gods truth
that we are all truly One,
Again,you are God's Hero.

When you know
that forgiveness is blessed
and forgive all,
No matter how large or small
that trespass against you,
You will be God's Hero.

When your desire to know God
is so great
that in desperation
you finally give up searching for Her
where She never has been found,
You will find Her
where She has always been,
Watching,
Waiting,
Within,
Ready to welcome
Her Hero Home.
~Poem by: Eric P. McCarty

I dedicate this poem to, William Wagner, my dear friend's son (20 years old), who passed away last night to start his new transition with God. He was a true God's hero.

Let the light in

Ring the bells that still can ring
forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack in everything
that's how the light gets in.

Is our world an Illusion?

Can you find the hidden figures of Romeo and Juliet in this drawing of a forest sprite?

Every time, I visit this optical illusions's website , I wonder what if, the world we live in is some-kind of illusion? What if we are not seeing the real world? Illusions can provide a wonderful window into how the brain works. The question of "Reality" is one of the core issues of Philosophy and metaphysics, along with the Question of Truth and of Certainty. So how can one know what is real?

Check out this one

Do you see an old lady or a young woman? Your mind can only interpret one facial image at a time, but they are both there.

In the East, one of the metaphors of explaining reality and illusion is that of the rope and the snake. In the dark we may see a rope and mistake it for a snake. When there is enough light we realize that it was only a rope, and the snake disappears. It is only due to some kind of illusion that we see a world. Everything is in the mind.

Can the 700 Billionaires unite?

Winston Churchill once said socialism is the equal sharing of miseries whereas capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. After reading the following article, I think we are about to experience some serious blessings in the world! Assuming the billionaires' wealth will able to trickle down.

It took John D. Rockefeller 16 years to become a billionaire. Bill Gates did it in 10. Mike Dell in 5 years. And Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page became multibillionaires in their late 20s.
The collective worth of the world's 700-odd billionaires is now bumping $3 trillion. Their numbers grow by more than 100 new big ones a year. Some 50 countries now have them, including Kazakhstan and Iceland. In China, where the rule of business law is as ephemeral in the Wild East as it once was in the Wild West (as long as you keep your nose out of politics), there are already 30 billionaires.

Can you imagine, if only the 700 billionars unite, what kind of possibilites they can create in this world?
